Project Gallery

In this project gallery, I showcase a range of art lessons I’ve developed for K–12 students, most of which have been implemented in the classroom.

Each project is designed to build technical skills while encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and individual expression, with a focus on clear structure and meaningful outcomes.

Worldly Wonders

This was one of my first projects made for a class of 4th grade art students. The students had little experience with chalk pastel and the Winter holidays were approaching.

I designed a project where the students would create chalk landscape featuring the Aurora Borealis in spirit of the winter season where they would learn to use the medium.

Patterns of Life

This lesson was an introduction to patterns. For inspiration, the class looked to the golden patterns of Gustav Klimt's "The Tree of Life," hence metallic markers and pearl water colors being the choice of medium.

The students explored geometric and organic shapes, and used leaf shapes to reference to Klimt.

Oil Monsters

In this project, students applied their understanding of warm and cool color schemes while exploring the wax-resist technique with oil pastels and watercolor.

After creating expressive compositions, they identified shapes within their work and developed them into imaginative characters, focusing on color relationships and creative exploration.

Pattern in Pieces

In this project, students created individual designs on tongue depressors using markers, focusing on pattern, line, or small portraits. Each student made multiple sticks, working to fully cover the surface and eventually create a class quilt.

Depth Of Observation (7th-8th)

In this unit on depth, students created observational still life drawings using objects from the art room. Instruction focused on composition, sighting, and “blobbing” to establish accurate proportion and form.

Students then applied value through blending, stippling, hatching, and cross-hatching to develop depth and realism. The project builds foundational skills in observation, light, and spatial understanding.

Life in Color, Color in Life (7th-8th)

For this project, students created an original drawing that incorporates the color wheel directly into the composition.

After learning color relationships, they combined color with observational drawing and shading to create contrast between grayscale form and vibrant color.

Dotted Worlds (7th-8th)

In this unit, students explored Pointillism and how artists like Georges Seurat used small marks to build larger images, like the original pixels.

Students used the grid method to transfer their landscape designs before building their scenes dot by dot with colored markers. This project emphasized patience, attention to detail, and how color can visually blend through repeated marks.

Chromatic Identity (7th-8th)

In this unit, students created monochromatic self-portraits that connect emotion with color through color psychology.

Using the grid method and controlled paint mixing, students developed value from light to dark while strengthening skills in observation, proportion, and composition.

Prisma City (7th-8th)

Students explored two-point perspective to create the illusion of depth and space. Using Prismacolor pencils, they applied blending and layering techniques to develop vibrant, original individual cityscapes of their own unique design.

Identity in Perspective (7th-8th)

Students learned the fundamentals of 2-point linear perspective, a drawing technique that creates the illusion of depth and dimension.

After practicing the method, students applied their skills to design and draw their names using two vanishing points, creating bold, 3D letterforms that appear to recede into space.

Royal Symmetry (HS)

Students explored the history of playing card designs as a foundation for creating surreal, imaginative imagery.

Using a template and rotational symmetry, they developed one half of their composition before transferring it into a complete, balanced design.

Final works were enhanced with Prismacolor pencils, watercolor, or acrylic markers to create bold, visually striking pieces.
